Saturday the 28th of March 2026: A glorious Spring Light and the beauty of a Bare Woodland.

It was on Sunday the 22nd of February 2026 when I last visited Bogend, and well it was just on the cusp of the seasons changing, yes it might have been the last part of Winter but in the back of the mind - I knew that Spring was just awaiting in the wings, that being said though there was a complete lack of any decent light and instead I had to capture Bogend quite simply,

"In Black and White, stepping back in time perhaps and stepping in the shoes of Ansel Adams to come up with some photos that highlighted the bleakness and rawness of the latter part of Winter and of course a rather flat light, but to make that flat light into something else to make it work."

Fast forward to Saturday the 28th of March 2026, and "hold on what is that?" For Meteorological Spring/Spring so far has been something of a rather mixed bag, yes warmth, yes a reminder that even in the Spring, winter elements can be felt, but again though this time around - thankfully the conditions were on my side, and there was a glorious Spring light, the skies blue and clear and this time around well I captured some photos from the top end of Bogend, near where there is some car parking, before taking a walk down the pathway towards the brook, initially I was somewhat nervous as to the following question, "will it be claggy?" But instead it was not claggy, the footpath towards the brook and via the glorious woodlands was just delightful to walk along, and whilst the woodlands of Bogend might have been somewhat bare, there was a glorious Spring light, just gently seeping through the woodlands, and whilst the woodlands were bare, they seemed beautiful, and in a somewhat early stage of awakening, for it might have been bare, but life, yes wildlife is slowly returning and I wonder what it will look like next time. But below are the photos that I managed to capture today, on Saturday the 28th of March 2026.

Sunday the 22nd of February 2026: For a flat light meant that I had to be a bit "Ansel Adams." in order to capture the rather bare Winter elements of Bogend.

"Well it seems ages since I last visited Bogend!" And of course the last time I had visited Bogend was in October of 2025, a season and a time of vast colour and beauty, but at the same time with it being Autumn, well that means that nature was putting on its last theatrical display of colour before the Winter arrived. And through the Winter, well visiting Bogend and seeing it looking rather bare, was something that really did not inspire me. However though that changed on Sunday the 22nd of February 2026, and that is because,

"There had been a break in the weather, a break from the constant grey, meh, dull, dank, drab weather that has made things challenging for any kind of landscape photography, right from January of 2026 throughout the majority of February 2026. But that break in the weather, well that meant the return of sunshine and hold on, blue sky, but also some challenging flat light."

And when I arrived at Bogend, what did I come across? Well a landscape that had seemingly changed, yes it might be the end of February when I visited Bogend, yes it might also be the last part of meteorological Winter - but there was just something magical and mysterious, perhaps slightly ethereal as well, and the landscape, well it looked bare, the light somewhat flat, which meant that I had to capture Bogend in a kind of "Ansel Adams" way, using Black and White to capture the seemingly still and bare yet beautiful elements of Bogend, but what was it that I had come across this time?

Well of course it was the bare layers of the trees, and the branches looking akin to sculptures, but at the same time I did also see the first elements of life beginning to return to Bogend, after nature had been asleep for a long time, for there was something that I sensed as I had finished capturing these photos and that of course was the following,

"That very soon, the bare elements of Winter and lack of colour will be gone, for despite it being the end part of February 2026 and the last part of Winter, Spring is around the corner and that will bring with it a certain something else, another theatrical display of colours returning to the landscape after a deep sleep through the season of Winter, and before long, Bogend will turn into an art gallery yet again curated and created by nature alone. For yes I had more than likely this time around encountered Bogend at a time when slowly but surely it is beginning to awaken itself from Winter and prepare itself for the return of colour and beauty, with new growth and new life."

And I for one, well I shall most certainly be back again in the Spring to see what else has changed, for what beauty will I see when I next visit? Who knows, but perhaps that is what draws me to Bogend, the sense of beauty and mystery and the ever changing views and layers and works of art that nature provides for all to see.

Thursday the 23rd of October 2025: A Welcome Return and Autumn at Bogend. The continuation in a new way of a Bogend Photography Project.

Time eh? For where does it go? Well it was not that long ago when I had something of a photography project going on, simply known as,

"The Beauty of Bogend."

However though things change, life has certain changes within it, and you lose track of things. However though it was on Thursday the 23rd of October 2025 that I had visited Bogend, for the first time in quite a while and what did I come across? Well an art gallery of colour, layers and beauty, and Autumn looking akin to a painted scene, created by that artist called Nature. Either way though, I must also say, "welcome to the new photographic project for Bogend, entitled quite simply - The Art of Bogend." And below are the photos that I had managed to capture.

"Foliage and Layers of Colour a Change."
